Take a load off Fanny. A week of waiting on paint, but for some reason that Band song came to mind and I decided to have some fun with words. Not funny? I did manage to melt off those pesky VA numbers. Hard to tell on the photo but the port side is clean. Seems weird to heat up the numbers with a blow dryer when it's 100 degrees outside but it worked. The numbers, letters and decals peeled off. Acetone got the major goo off and then a final rub with Goo Gone; it was like the letters were never there. Hopefully when the paint gets here Friday the weather will cooperate and all that will be all that remains.
The 3M Marine Rubbing Compound worked really well in restoring the blue boot stripes. This product is awesome. In the sprit of full disclosure, they are not a client or a sponsor. I hope that they will consider being one or both. Especially after this awesome endorsement of their product to my readership; I mean my two readers.
Guys, seriously, go and get some 3M Marine Rubbing Compound the next time you need to restore your boat finish, or your car or whatever.
Even if they are not part of the team, the compound worked great and I recommend it for your restoring needs. The blue stripes were heavily oxidized and they are shining!
I did get to watch Fireworks from the boat thanks to the neighbors. Got fired up this morning drinking coffee and watching T2P tv. It was nice to see White Boat former HYC J-30 win their fleet on the Wednesday Night Series. I hope that you had a great 4th of July! FBG in 2012!
