Windward Sheeting Car

Installed the windward sheeting car and track this weekend. The track required a bit of modification but I like how it turned out. The new car gives about 2 inches of additional travel on each side and the track mounted blocks look smooth.

Functionally, Harken's windward sheeting car is a great racing upgrade. We had one on Hot Pepper and it really simplifies sheeting to windward. You just pull the traveler sheet up versus un-cleating, moving the sheet and re-cleating. I can't wait to see it in action.

It was necessary to build 2, 1 and 1/4" risers to support the new track where it over extended the old track. I cut a 12"x12"x1/4" poly board sheet into 10, 2"x 6" strips then stacked them 5 high to get my 1" & 1/4" of rise. I countersunk a holding fastener and shaped them with a belt sander. The finished product looked high speed.

The backstay flicker should be coming in this week and pole up! Maybe? Have a great Thanksgiving. FBG in 2012!
