Baltoplate on!

Wow was it hot! But the paint thinned out fine and laid in smooth. Sprayed at 45psi thinned 40%. Thin smooth coats; no clogs or clumps. I did get a couple of runs but they will sand out fine. 4 coats on in about 3 hours.

The first time I sprayed Baltoplate on my Pearson 26, Lazy Bones it didn't work out so well. For one thing,  I did not know the paint needed to be thinned for spraying. Also the gun I used was really old and in poor condition. It sanded out okay but it took a lot of sanding. I was going into this a little apprehensive.

This time around was a much better experience. For one, I did my homework. Interlux, the paint manufacturer, has an informative web forum. a better gun and I safety up-ed with the good gear. I do not think I smelled any pait fumes at all.

It was a great day for painting though it could have been a little cooler. There was not breeze. Good for painting but not so good for the Down the Bay Race. FBG - DTB Next Year! Good Luck Racers.

So next is more sanding. This time, I will be wet-sanding the baltoplate. I think it's time to break out the margarita machine, whip up some frozen concoctions, dawn panchos and have a wet-sanding party. More to come on that.

Getting closer and closer to the water every day. More to come...
