Chris got the goo out and it was everywhere. He rebuilt the D-7 in 07 and fortunately, the piston and jug looked great. After a re-seat of valves Chris concluded that the sludge was the culprit in bending the push rod. There we a couple of mis-steps here and there but at 1030 last Friday night, she fired right up first crank. It was great to hear that beemer go.
We have some small adjustments to take care of but all and all a big step forward. It was great to heat that diesel fire. The smell of diesel smoke in the boat reminded me of past trips and future trips to come.
Also this week, got the electric bilge pump hooked up with a new float switch and it is working great. Going to take care of some minor wiring and plumbing today and get the pads done next week. Clean the boat, fix the trailer and in the water and on to the rigging work. We are getting closer. FBG in 2012!
