A day at the races...and so worth the wait

After last weeks abandoned tune up race, the 0 knots of breeze greeting us at the committee boat was not well received. As we neared go-time discussions of fishing, yard-work and all of the other not boat racing activities we could all be doing started to abound. Thankfully that quickly changed.

Breeze filled in and we got to it - A few quick practice tacks upwind, spinnaker jibes downwind and we were ready to start. Our Tactician found a great lane that ended up nearly making the windward mark. A short tack, a hoist and run to the finish. #1 was done and we got a 2. Not bad.

For race #2 the breeze filled. The 10-12 knots accommodated 2 windward-leewards. Another good start had us on the line on time and moving. We rolled out into the breeze and found a good set of lanes. The sails went up and down great and with a 4th we are #2 in the series. Wow!

Amazing team work and skill on the boat, great sails from North and I'll take a little credit for the elbow grease. TFGRT (Thanks For Going Racing Today) - With a warm welcome from a great group of competitors, I could not have dreamed of a better season opener. See ya next Sunday for CCV #3.
