Headsail Blues

Jib Hole
T-Byrd
The only thing worse than only having one racing jib is having no racing jib. The rookies did a great job getting the sails up and down for the CCV Founders Race.
The Rookies in action

While the hole in the jib did not slow us down, it did cause some problems crossing the mast. Going from starboard to port the hole started fouling other gear making a huge mess and causing issues for Tim on the bow. This became unsafe. I made the call to abandon the race on Tim's concerns. Tim, Tyler (Miller), Rob, T-Byrd, Cliff and Hudd did a great job getting the boar around the course. Thanks guys, for getting out on the water with me and enduring the sunburn. There were plenty of raccoon eyes at the Monday morning meeting.

Adding insult to injury, a loud thud as we crossed the HRBT on the way home left a grape size hole in the leading edge neat the bottom of the keel. The Silver Lining, the next morning I received an email from North Sails on their "save the bay" promotion.  Victory at sea in 2013!
